Spokane Tank Project SummarySee RemarksThe tendon design for the 12 Spokane tanks noted above, saved $1,800,000 for the owner compared to strand-wrapped alternates designed by others. The solitary $4,000,000 bid received on the strand wrapped tanks had been declared invalid by the EPA (who was partially funding the project) because of lack of fair competition. The contractor then invited nationwide proposals from tank designers and prestressing firms. The tendon tank design by our firm won. (Contact J&CA for a brief article reprinted from Engineering News Record about this savings.)$2,200,000
